They are all CSA and UL approved special purpose breakers for DC applications. (solar, wind, electric cars etc...) What is a DC breaker? Midnite Solar DC Breakers - These DC breakers from Midnite Solar are
rated for up to 150 volts DC and are available in amperages from 1 to 63 amps. They are DIN
mount type and fit Midnite Solar's MNDC125 (125 amp disconnect with
slots for up to five DIN mount breakers), MNDC175 (175 amp disconnect with slots
for up to five DIN mount breakers), MNDC250 (250 amp disconnect with slots for up
to five DIN mount breakers), MNPV3 (three circuit PV combiner),
MNPV6 (six circuit PV combiner) as well as the MNBABYBOX
(four circuit mini breaker panel). The also fit the Outback PSPV (ten circuit PV
combiner). The MNDC-GFP 63 amp ground fault interrupt breaker is essential for roof mounted solar
arrays.

Main Inverter DC Breakers - These DC breakers are large breakers used for inverter or electric car overcurrent protection and also act as a safety disconnect. The 125 amp DC breaker fits in the Outback Flexware 250, Flexware 500 and the Flexware 1000 for inverter and conductor protection. It also fits in the four extra slots in the Xantrex DC175 and DC250 as well as the slot in Midnite Solar's MNDC125, MNDC175 and MNDC250. The 100, 175 amp and the 250 amp DC breakers fit in Outback Flexware 250, Flexware 500 and the Flexware 1000 for inverter and conductor protection. They also fit in the two large slots in the Xantrex DC175 and DC250 as well as main breaker slot in Midnite Solar's MNDC125, MNDC175 and MNDC250. | CD / EA1 Style Panel Mount 125 Volt DC Breakers - These DC breakers are typically used for inputs such as solar, wind turbines and water turbines or loads such as lighting or DC appliances. They are about 1 inch wide and 4 3/4 inches tall. They fit the four extra slots in Xantrex's DC175 and DC250 as well as three slots in Outback's Flexware 500-DC and 9 slots in Outback's Flexware 1000-DC. |

What is a DC breaker?
A DC breaker is a resetable device used to protect conductors (wires) and equipment from overcurrent. Most common breakers are of the AC (alternating current) type such as those used in the breaker panel of your home. DC (direct current) breakers perform the same function in direct current systems such as the battery in your car or a solar system. DC breakers look similar but are much different inside. AC breakers may not be used on DC systems as they can fail or cause a fire. DC breakers are rated by amperage (amps) and voltage (volts).
PLEASE NOTE: Each solar system should have a Class T DC fuse mounted as close to the battery bank as possible and a DC breaker for each inverter.
