60 Amp 220 Volt DC Solid State Relay

This high quality, low-cost 60 amp DC solid state relay is perfect for controlling high amperage DC loads such as those used for dump loads or diversion load control. It will operate (turn on and off) a load at up to 220 volts DC making these relays excellent for use with 1-220 volt DC water heaters, air heaters or other resistive loads, DC motors and DC pumps.

Midnite Solar's Classic, Outback's FM60, FM80 and all FX inverters as well as Xantrex's MPPT controllers include user programmable auxillary 12 volt relay drivers to perform various functions. This is referred to as the AUX mode in the FM60's and FM80's manuals.

The AUX mode, in conjunction with this 60 amp DC solid state relay, can be used to operate a:

• Vent Fan- when the Vent Fan voltage set point is exceeded, the vent fan will run for at least 15 seconds. This is useful especially when equalizing your batteries as it will remove the harmful and dangerous hydrogen produced when the batteries (the fan helps remove hydrogen from battery enclosure).
• PV Trigger - deactivates the relay to disconnect the array when the input voltage is too high (above 150 volts to protect FM60 from destruction)
• Diversion Control - diverts excess power to a DC load (air or water heater) from the batteries when a wind or water turbine is connected directly to the battery bank.
• Low Battery Disconnect - activates/deactivates the AUX load(s) when a user determined voltage and time levels are reached to protect battery from deep discharge and damage.
• Night Light - after the PV voltage is below a threshold voltage for a user-determined time period, a user-provided light illuminates as long as the FLEXmax 80 remains sleeping or as determined by the user-established time limit.
• Error Output - useful for monitoring remote sites, switches to the Off state if the FLEXmax 80 has not charged the batteries for 26 hours or more (not an audible alarm, only displayed as a printed message on FLEXmax 80 AUX Menu) or the battery voltage has fallen below a user-determined set point for 10 continuous minutes. In the No Error state, the AUX output is on.
• Float - powers a non priority load if the FM60 or FM80 is producing power in the float stage. This way the load only operates when the batteries are full and have completed a bulk and absorbtion charge that day.

• Remote Load Control - Using Outback Power's Mate you can control (turn on and off) any DC load (up to 60 amps at 220 volts) remotely with this 60 amp DC solid state relay.

*Without any charge controller or inverter this 60 amp DC solid state relay can be triggered (or operated) by any DC voltage between 3 and 32 volts. It requires minimal amperage to operate and is silent unlike a conventional DC relay.
